The actor's condition suddenly deteriorated and he needed immediate medical attention. The 53-year-old actor has been admitted to the hospital's ICU. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
An official statement on his health said, "Yes, it is true that Irfan Khan has been admitted to the ICU of Mumbai's Cocliben due to a colon infection. We will keep updating all of them. The doctor's observations I am here. Their strength and courage have helped them in the war. And fight till now and we are sure that they will recover soon.
The actor has been ill for some time now
He was first diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor and is, therefore, receiving medical attention.
Irfan is currently mourning the death of his mother. The actor's mother Saeeda Begum breathed her last on Saturday in Jaipur where she lived. However, due to the ongoing lockdown, the actor could not physically attend his mother's funeral and allegedly attended via video conferencing.
The actor's latest film is Homi Adjania's comedy English Medium, the last Bollywood film that was forced to close cinemas completely before COVID-19. Before the closure of halls all over India, the English medium ran in cinemas for only one day.

The English medium forced Irfan to return home despite his illness.
But the actor could not promote the film due to his critical health, and he presented a voice note in his body talking about "unwanted guests" in which he apologized to the audience.
